Starting the season 0-3 with three one-sided losses, Centennial appeared as if it would enter a season-long swoon.

But after a 43-0 shutout win over Sierra at Dutch Clark Stadium Friday night – the Bulldogs’ second straight shutout win – things are looking up for Centennial.

Led by three touchdowns by Damerico Gonzales, Centennial has now outscored its last two opponents by a grand total of 64-0. It gives the Bulldogs confidence heading into the beginning of its 3A South-Central League schedule next week.

The Bulldogs’ confidence, though, pales in comparison to South, which went up to Lewis-Palmer Friday and spanked the 3-1 Rangers 46-3.

Two Jace Bellah touchdowns, including one on a pick-six interception return for a touchdown, one of his two interceptions in the win, helped key a dominant win for the Colts. It’s a big confidence-builder heading into next week’s biggie – trying to reclaim the cannon from East in the annual Cannon Game.

In other action, Central improved to 31-6 with a one-sided win over Sand Creek while Rye suffered its first loss to undefeated Florence 38-6 and Pueblo County won on the short-side of a 21-14 loss to Harrison.
